• MU-MESON ARCHIVES – SPECIAL WARM UP TO SUFF!  Thursday 1st August 2011 7:30

Screening on the 1st of September at the inimitable Mu Meson Archives is AMERICAN GRINDHOUSE. 7:30pm for an 8pm start.
Starting at the turn of the 20th Century, Exploitation Cinema emerged from the tents of carnie sideshows, reared its ugly head in the first true Exploitation features like TRAFFIC IN SOULS and FREAKS, brushed shoulders with hard-boiled Film Noir in the ‘40s, came of age with the teen flicks of the ‘50s, razzed Hollywood’s stodgy Production Code with innumerable “Nudie Cuties” and “Roughies,” rode high on the hog with the biker pix of the ‘60s and pimp-slapped some jive turkeys during the “Blaxploitation” boom of the ‘70s. AMERICAN GRINDHOUSE takes a fascinating look at the films, filmmakers, hucksters and hustlers who made it all happen.
See you there!

Plus we are also premièring the wacky new short THE TERRYS by the hilarious duo Tim and Eric! So come and help us celebrate our 5th birthday with fun films, a special live performance, DJs, complimentary food and beverages thanks to our opening night partners Rosnay Organic Winery, Burragumbilli Organic Beer, and wonderful freshly baked Pizza onsite thanks to Doughboy – Petersham.
