WORLD PREMIERE!
(Tyler Hubby, USA, 2011, 101mins)
Tyler Hubby has spent 15 years documenting the cutting edge, experimental and improvisational musicians associated with the Table of the Elements label, including Faust, John Fahey, Keiji Haino, Tony Conrad and Fushitsusha amongst others. A beautiful and haunting portrait of some of the world’s most astonishing musical performers.

2:45pm – 3:45pm X – In conversation
FREE ADMISSION!
Cult director / writer Jon Hewitt and writer Belinda McClory join Jack Sargeant for an onstage discussion on their film X, exploring the history of the Cross and it’s relation to the film and the processes behind writing, producing and making the best low budget Australian thriller for years. Hewitt and McClory’s wisdom, experience and their insights into the art of independent filmmaking are essential for anybody wanting to produce feature films.
4:15pm – 5:30pm Of Dolls And Murder
(Susan Marks, USA, 2010, 70 mins)
John Waters narrates this documentary on the Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death. Created by Frances Glessner Lee in the 1930s to teach homicide detectives, these violent and sometimes bloody dollhouse dioramas merge the educational, gothic and kitsch. This absorbing film extends into cultural fascination with forensic science manifested through CSI and its ilk, offering a fascinating view of the world of crime, death and detection.
6pm – 7:30pm All My Friends Are Funeral Singers
This unique and visionary gothic tale focuses on psychic Zel, a fortune teller who lives in a large house filled with ghosts including a blind band (gloriously performed by Califone). Zel offers her clients and the ghosts a conduit between worlds. However, events take an unexpected turn when a mysterious light appears in the woods. A perfectly realised, dreamlike movie that combines weird Americana and folk mythology with surrealism and a genuinely offbeat sensibility.
+ “MEAT SLAP” Free short films! From 8 – 10pm thanks to SCASS
