PRESS RELEASE, July 29, 2021
In light of yesterday’s State Government announcement for an extended lockdown, the Sydney Underground Film Festival has to run as a virtual event for 2021.
It’s quite unbelievable to be making this announcement again, as only a few short months ago things were looking so promising that SUFF would return in person to The Factory Theatre. But with such uncertainty of how things will look after this 4-week lockdown, we are between a rock and a hard place with SUFF's start date less than 2 weeks later.
Since we had already decided to run some events online for our more regional, isolated, and further afield friends, rather than cancelling or postponing the 15th edition of the festival in its entirety, we have decided to move ahead with a virtual event and make the most of it.
We will still be screening a bunch of great features, documentaries and short films sessions online plus lots of other cool stuff will be happening.
Thank you to everyone that helps make SUFF happen and that have supported SUFF in returning after such an insane 18 months. In light of this and the re-jigging that we need to do, the festival program will be announced WED 18TH AUGUST 8pm.
We hope that as many of you as possible will join us from your living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms - where ever you like to watch! There’s light at the end of this tunnel folks, even if for now it might be the light from your TV or computer screen!
