Come make 360 video virtual reality! Working in small groups, you will gain a hands-on introduction to the shooting, editing and viewing of 360 video. We will also discuss some of the aesthetic and technical issues around creating VR video works and look at where this technology is heading. This workshop will use 360 video cameras and Google cardboards that will be supplied. The editing and viewing of the work will happen using your mobile phone - so you will need a 2015 or more recent iPhone or higher end Android phone.
This workshop will be run by Sydney based media practitioners working in this new field (John Tonkin, Mark Pesce and Special Guests).
Mark Pesce is a futurist, inventor, writer, entrepreneur, educator and podcaster. In 1994 he co-invented VRML, a 3D interface to the Web. Mark is an honorary associate in the Department of Media and Communications at the University of Sydney.
John Tonkin is an artist and educator who has been making media art projects since 1985. His recent projects have included interactive video installations and interactive light sculptures. John lectures at SCA, The University of Sydney.
